An Entrepreneur’s Story of Survival

What happens when you refuse to fail?

Moore’s journey began in the nascent world of television, then cable TV but his foresight led him to the forefront of the internet revolution. As a co-founder, Chairman, and CEO of 24/7 Media, he built one of the foundational ad networks of the early web. Then came the dot-com crash of 2000.

Overnight, the rocket ship Moore had commanded to the top hit rock bottom. He watched his company’s stock plummet from $68 to just $.09 cents. As revenue evaporated, his own management team secretly met to declare bankruptcy. But Moore chose a path of reinvention.

Through a series of astute strategic maneuvers, most notably the acquisition of Real Media and its Open AdStream technology, Moore transformed the company from a media sales organization into a technology powerhouse. This culminated in its landmark $649 million acquisition by WPP in 2007, one of the deals that helped signal the maturation of the ad-tech industry.

Emerging as An Industry Leader

About David Photo

Finding new ways to make technology work for marketers

After successfully steering 24/7 Media through the catastrophic dot-com collapse, Moore transitioned from digital advertising entrepreneur to corporate strategist. He went on to spend 12 years within WPP, serving as President of WPP Digital and Chairman of Xaxis, where he was instrumental in building the holding company’s programmatic capabilities.

Most significantly, however, the harrowing ordeal of battling back from bankruptcy defined Moore’s tenacious leadership philosophy as an industry statesman. He helped steer the digital ad industry’s development as a Board member of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) for almost 20 years, as Chairman from 2009 to 2011, and as the first Chairman of the IAB Tech Lab, which established new standards and technical frameworks to govern the digital ad ecosystem.

Overcoming Digital Disruption Together

Moore’s career is a testament to an enduring ability to not only survive but also to pioneer the next evolution of the digital marketing landscape.

Having navigated multiple technological shifts over the course of his 45+ year career, he is now committed to helping develop the next generation of entrepreneurial warriors through strategic speaking engagements, executive advising, and mentorship.
